Mumbai:
The IT division of Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilisers
Company (GNFC) has bagged a turnkey project order, for
supplying VSAT systems, from Indian Space Research Organisation
(ISRO).
Every VSAT system
will have a 2.4-metre motorised antenna. The vital aspect
of the VSAT system design will be its lightweight, small-size,
quick-assembly and dismantling features. The design is
also cost effective as compared to the total imported
system.
GNFC has emerged
as a leading provider of VSAT, Internet services and networking
solutions to a host of corporates in Gujarat and is actively
focusing on developing the IT industry infrastructure
in the state with a planned investment and active support
of the Gujarat state government.
The government
is actively considering the use of such VSAT systems for
rural communications and e-governance at village, taluka
and district levels, essentially with a focus of supplying
information to farmers and villagers.
Says GNFC executive
director P B Nanavati: "GNFC has always strived to
excel in all its operations. The order entrusted to us
by ISRO only reiterates our quality and commitment."
After GNFC was
incorporated in 1976, the company diversified into industrial
products and today has to its credit India''s largest methanol,
formic acid, concentrated nitric acid and acetic acid
plants. GNFC is India''s only manufacturer of glacial acetic
acid by the cutting-edge methanol route.
The company is
engaged in manufacturing and selling fertilisers such
as urea, ammonium nitrate and calcium ammonium nitrate
under the umbrella Narmada. GNFC is one of the world''s
largest single-stream ammonia-urea fertiliser complexes.
GNFC has made a
foray into the field of IT and is dedicated to bridge
the rural-urban divide through the use of IT. It has also
acquired nationwide presence in the IT infrastructure,
solutions and services arena by creating world-class infrastructure
to facilitate IT development. GNFC Infotower provides
the best facilities for the IT industry in Ahmedabad.
A number of software
services like public key infrastructure and digital signatures,
e-security solutions, e-governance, business solutions
and smart card solutions along with other customised solutions
and services are in the offing as of now.
GNFC
has also become one of the largest Internet bandwidth
providers in Gujarat by establishing its international
gateway for Internet in Bharuch. The gateway has a feed
range of 10 Mbps to 50 Mbps, and is backed by OFC Gateway
to provide highest reliability, multiple routing capability
and the shortest path.
