IBM India has announced the appointment of Anjan Mukerji
as country leader, IBM Business Consulting Services (BCS),
to head the India operations of IBM BCS, effective January
2003. IBM BCS is the newly established consulting arm
of IBM Corporation, formed after the merger of PwC Consulting
and IBM globally.
IBM BCS is the
worlds largest consulting organisation with over
60,000 professionals operating in 160 countries with in-depth
experience and expertise across 20 industries. BCS is
Indias largest consulting service organisation,
with operations in more than 14 cities.
Outlining
the value proposition for the newly formed IBM BCS in
India, Mukerji says: Given the complex technology
landscape, organisations are constantly looking at new
ways of running their businesses. BCS is poised to help
customers conceive, develop, implement, and operate critical
aspects of their business as the collaborative business
and technology partner of choice.

leverage the strengths of the erstwhile IBM Business Innovation
Services and PwC Consulting to provide our customers an
unparalleled breadth and depth of consulting capabilities
on a global basis backed by broad technology resources
in India.
Mukerji was the
chief operating officer of PwC Consulting practice in
India before the merger of PwC Consulting with IBM in
October 2002. Under Mukerjis leadership, the PwC
practice moved to a premier position in the Indian consulting
industry.
The establishment
of PwC as a leading consultant, leading the SAP initiative
to position PwC as the leading practice with around 60
per cent of top clients in the market, starting the strategy
consulting practice are some of the significant accomplishments
during his tenure.
Mukerji has both
engineering and accounting qualifications. After completing
a bachelors degree in engineering from University of London
he went on to become a fellow of the Chartered Institute
of Management Accountants, UK, and Certified Public Accountant,
Singapore.
He started his
professional career in 1966 as a management trainee at
Molins Ltd in London. He joined PW Consulting in 1975
in London and subsequently went on to lead the Management
Consultancy Services operations in various countries like
Singapore, Malyasia and West Africa.
