Chennai:
The city-based India Intellisys Technology has been appointed
by Segue Software to distribute its complete set of reliability
management products, including SilkPerformer V, SilkVision
and SilkTest. India Intellisys is part of the US-based
$9-million turnover Intellisys Technology.
The
$28-million Segue Software delivers software and services
that ensures the accuracy and performance of enterprise
applications. The appointment of India Intellisys and
two other distributors signals the growing potential that
India offers for software testing products estimated.
Says
Segue marketing manager Heidi A Gilmore: "The annual
cost incurred by companies due to software bugs is around
$60 billion. The cost to automotive and the aerospace
industry is estimated to be in the region of $1.8 billion
while in the case of financial services sector it is around
$3.3 billion."
Around
64 per cent of the additional cost incurred due to a software
bug is borne by the end user and the software developer
escapes with just 36 per cent. However, end-users are
becoming more careful and demanding as they now insist
on third party testing and certification of the claims
made by software product companies.
The
global market size for software testing product is estimated
to be in the region of $1billion and is growing at an
annual rate of 20 per cent. "Enquiries about our
products from India is second only to the US market and
so we decided to come here," she says.
Intellisys
Technology, in the meantime, has invested in two companies
eLogistics, Chennai and Axletree Solutions, USA.
"In the case of eLogistics it is just an investment
opportunity for us while we have acquired 50 per cent
of the controlling stake in Axletree Solutions,"
says Ramdevan Krishnaswamy, one of the promoters of Intellisys
Technology.
eLogistics
has launched an integrated system of tracking cargo in
transit enabling the truckers and shippers to know the
cargo location. The product has been approved by the Indian
government''s Technology Development Board for funding
assistance.
In
October 2002 Intellisys Technology acquired Microhard
Technologies, an independent IT certification and customised
corporate training company.
