On 28 January 2008, Nissan announced the launch of its two compact vehicles - the new Tiida 5-door hatchback and Tiida Latio 4-door sedan at dealers across Japan. Tiida and Tiida Latio were first launched in 2004. Their debut versions exceeded customer expectations, offering premium quality, spacious interiors and efficient fuel economy. Both the vehicles have now been enhanced and given a new look. With new interior and exterior designs, retuned electric power steering, powertrain enhancements and a new 'Plus navi HDD' package, the cars have been revamped inside out. The new instrument cluster design, gives the new Tiida and Tiida Latio interiors a sporty and modern look with increased functionality. It features new illumination colours that change to an orange hue and a fuel consumption display function. New metallic-finish dashboard panelling/ is also available on Tiida models. The interiors also have a revised centre stack with redesigned automatic air-conditioner controls and new illumination scheme, as well as new silver finishers which is available on 18G, 15G, 15M and 15M FOUR models. Seat fabrics have been changed on 18G and 15G models. New seat fabric patterns and stitching colours are available on 15M and 15M FOUR. Stitching colour changes also apply to Tiida 18G, 15G, 15M and 15M FOUR models and Tiida Latio 18G and 15G models with a black interior. Stylish, with options
Both cars sport an all-new front-end design with new grills, headlights and bumpers. While both have new wheel cover designs, Tiida features new taillights and a rear bumper for a sturdy look. Tiida is available in eight colours including titanium metallic silky beige, metallic silver, metallic champagne gold and pearl metallic pacific blue. Tiida Latio also gives choice of seven colours including titanium metallic silky beige and metallic brilliant silver.
Fuel efficiency There have been a variety of powertrain enhancements, including the availability of a 6-speed manual transmission on 1.8-liter models. The electric-assisted power steering system is back to improve the experience at low and high speeds. With the HR15DE 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine and XTRONIC continuously variable transmission (CVT), the 2WD models have achieved 20 per cent higher fuel economy level, which is higher than Japan's 2010 fuel economy standards. Thereby, it has been qualified for the highest tax reduction under the Green Tax Programme in Japan. Tiida 15S and 15S four models are now available with a new, affordable 'Plus navi HDD' package, which includes an exclusive HDD-based Carwings navigation system. These provide high-speed, large-capacity 30-gigabyte hard disk drive; steering-wheel-mounted switches for audio controls and hands-free phone along with a front centre armrest with console storage box; rear seat cupholders; fully automatic air conditioning system; and chrome-plated waistline moulding. Two optional dealer packages are also available with new Tiida. 'NISMO S-tune Aero Package and NISMO S-tune Performance Package' that helps fine-tune the aerodynamics and driving performance of the vehicle.
