Mumbai:
PSL Limited, the largest capacity steel pipe manufacturer
in the country, has made a clean sweep in the new year
by winning two export orders worth Rs 75 crore ($ 16 million)
to supply API pipes for projects in Bangaldesh and Oman.
The company has bagged an order to supply pipes for the
Nalka-Bogra Gas Transmission Project in Bangaldesh, won
against stiff competition against companies like Thiessen
Mannesman Handel of Germany, LG International of Korea,
Mitco of Japan and China Petroleum Technology and Development
Corporation of China, amongst others. The Oman order is
for supply of pipelines for the prestigious Bidbid Fanja
and Samail townships.
According
to Ashok Punj, Managing Director, PSL Limited, "The
Bangladesh and Oman orders reinforce PSL''s strategic thrust
on exports, at the same time confirms our competitive
position in south east Asia and middle east, which are
lucrative markets. Bangladesh is in the process of constructing
a gas distribution pipeline network, for utilising its
abundant gas reserves currently being exploited. We are
confident of securing further orders in the coming years,
on successful completion of the current project".
The
order from Bangladesh, valued at Rs 14 crore (US$ 3.18
million), is for supplying API grade X60 pipes for the
Nalka-Bogra gas transmission project in Bangladesh, despite
stringent international competition for this high quality
grade. PSL will supply approximately 7,000 tonnes of pipes
for laying 55 kms of high-pressure gas pipelines, which
can withstand operating pressures of 1135 psig.
The
order from Oman worth Rs 58 crores (US$ 13.1 million)
has enabled the company to participate in the prestigious
Bidbid Fanja and Samail township projects by exporting
approximately 18,000 tonnes of large diameter steel API
5L grade B pipes to cover a distance of 61.63 Kms.
PSL
has already commenced production at its API approved HSAW
Pipe Mills near Kandla Port.
PSL
Limited, the flagship company of the PSL group, recently
doubled the capacity of its pipes division to 6,75,000
m/t per year with nine operating pipe mills, making it
the largest capacity pipe manufacturer in the country.
The company produces a variety of speciality
coated pipes, including spirally submerged arc welded
pipes for transporting gas, oil, water and petroleum for
ONGC, GAIL, HPCL, BPCL and IOC among others.
