Mumbai: Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group company Reliance Energy is reported to have bid the highest for the Rs3,000-4,000 crore metro rail project connecting the Indra Gandhi International airport with New Delhi railway station.

Other bidders for the project expected to include engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro and a consortium led by GE. A formal announcement of the winning bid is likely to be made in a day or two.

The 22-km metro rail project with 3-4 stations along the line will be the second in Reliance Energy''s kitty after the company managed to win a similar project in Mumbai.

Reliance Energy had won a Rs2,354-crore project in Mumbai for a 11.4-km elevated track from Versova (Western Mumbai) to Ghatkopar (Eastern Mumbai) with 12 stations.

Earlier, GMR infrastructure, which is leading the race for the Delhi International Airport Pvt Ltd (DIAL) upgradation project, had said it would bear 10 per cent cost of metro line which will connect the airport with the rest of the city.
