Rolls Royce sales up 171 per cent over previous record high news

According to Rolls-Royce its car sales were up by 171 per cent globally over the 2010 calendar year, which saw it more than double the previous sales record it set  in 2008.

The luxury car maker said it sold 2,711 cars in the 12 months to the end of December, up from 1002 cars in 2009.

The previous record stood at 1,212 cars in the year 2008.

Rolls Royce said all regions posted strong sales growth, especially Asia-Pacific, the US and the Middle East.

The US was the largest single market with China and the UK next with strong growth also seen in India, Korea, Japan and Singapore.

"Rolls-Royce has further extended its position at the pinnacle of the super luxury automotive market and has demonstrated a clear competence in the management of this unique ultra-luxury brand," chief executive Torsten Muller-Otvos said in a statement.
