The next time you walk into a post office, don''t be
surprised to find Spice products and recharge coupons
on shelves.
Spice
Telecom, Karnataka''s oldest and quality cellular service
provider has announced a tie up with the Department of
Posts to market Spice Uth prepaid cards and recharge coupons
through the network of post offices across Karnataka.
This
is the first time in Karnataka that a cellular operator
has made a tie-up with the postal department.
Through
this facility, a customer can buy Spice Uth cards and
recharge coupons in all denominations from post office
counters across the state. The facility is first being
introduced in Bangalore and Mysore, and will soon be extended
to all other districts in Karnataka.
Announcing
this significant development, Mr. Sean Dexter, managing
director-Spice Telecom, Karnataka Circle, said, "By
using the extensive network of post offices, the company
is enhancing its services to subscribers in the state.
This tie-up increases Spice''s distribution reach and is
another step towards bringing mobile services closer to
the people of Karnataka."
Added
Mr. Dexter, "We, at Spice Telecom have always strived
to provide our customers services and facilities that
makes their life easier. By tying up with the postal department,
we are reaching out to the common man and making our services
available across a cross section of the society."
Presently,
62 post offices in Bangalore and 15 in Mysore have been
identified in the first phase to sell these cards which
would be later extended to more post offices depending
upon the needs of the customers.
Spice
Telecom in Karnataka is the oldest of the four cellular
service providers, covering over 60 towns, over hundreds
of villages and 18 telecom district headquarters out of
19. The company has a customer base of over 2.6 lakh active
subscribers in Karnataka. Spice
Telecom has tied up with 44 roaming partners in India
and 150 partners across the world to provide national
and international roaming facilities in more than 100
countries.
