Tata Motors, India's largest automobile company, presented its Nano along with the new- generation Indica, the new Safari DICOR 2.2 VTT and the Xenon. The small wonder Nano is all set to be launched in the Indian market before the end of 2008. Safari DICOR 2.2 VTT and the Xenon have been introduced in selected markets while the international markets will get a view of the new generation Indica in the later part of this year. "The display of the Indica at Geneva in 1998, marked our entry into passenger cars,'' said Ratan Tata, chairman, Tata Group and Tata Motors. ''The last decade has been a period of significant development in Tata Motors' capabilities. The display of the Nano, which is a first for the global automobile industry, and the new generation Indica signifies this in-house progression." (View picture gallery: Tata Nano(European version) The Nano is an all-weather family car priced at Rs100,000 (excluding VAT and transportation cost) and will be available in both standard and deluxe versions in India. It boasts safety performance exceeding Indian regulatory standards with pollution levels lower than the two-wheelers being manufactured in India. The new Indica is a revamped version of the current Indica. Larger than its predecessor, the new Indica will be available with new range of diesel and petrol engines. It will be offered with a new 1.3 litre Quadra-Jet common rail direct injection diesel engine and 1.2 and 1.4 litre Safire MPFI VVT Petrol engines, in addition to existing Tata powertrains. (View video: Tata Nano launch at AutoExpo 2008) Powered by a 2.2 litre 103 kW common rail direct injection Euro IV compliant diesel engine, the new Safari DICOR 2.2 VTT has features such as ABS and airbags. The Xenon with the same engine as the new Safari DICOR 2.2 VTT is a versatile pick up truck. It is offered in single, double and space cabin versions with 4x2 and 4x4 configurations.
