Bangalore: About 42,000 visitors visited and around Rs 1.25-crore business enquiries were generated at the AV Expo 2003, India's largest audio-visual and hi-fi exhibition held between 20 and 22 June 2003 here. AV Expo Bangalore was a resounding success. Among consumer electronics giants who showcased all the latest technologies and gadgets included Bose, B&W, Onida, LG, Onkyo, Philips, Samsung and Pro Fx. There were a total of 41 stalls and 75 brands displayed at the expo. Apart from the stalls, there were eight demonstration rooms where the latest of AV equipment were demonstrated to give the consumer a real feel of the audio-visual world. This was the first time Bangalore witnessed such an audio-visual exhibition. Says Tata Infomedia vice-chairman and managing director H S Billimoria: "AV Expo 2003 has helped Tata Infomedia to reiterate its stand on providing a complete feel of the latest technology in the audio-visual industry to the tech-savvy consumers of today." AV Expo is an annual event organised by Tata Infomedia's Special Interest Publication Division (SIPD), which publishes AV Max, one of the premier audio-visual magazines. Says Tata Infomedia SIPD general manager Rahul Shah: "The growing market for audio visual equipment in South India and the right kind of infrastructure in Bangalore led us to organise such an event here. Our basic objective was to showcase the advanced features of hi-tech equipment to our end users. In pursuing this goal, AV Expo 2003 gave an opportunity to the exhibitors to carry out demonstrations in a real-home environment. AV Expo was organised earlier in Mumbai and New Delhi. Over 55,000 visitors visited and around Rs 1.5-crore enquiries were generated.
