TCS
has been awarded two new contracts in the Latin American
market totaling $30 million in the sphere of IT and
BPO services.
TCS
will manage the BPO and IT operations for Transantiago,
the modernised integrated public transportation system
planned for Chile''s capital Santiago. It has also secured
a 5-year contract with a leading banking and financial
group, to manage the entire set of back office operations
for the bank''s loan and credit business in Chile.

November 2005, TCS had acquired Comicrom, the largest
BPO firm in Chile with 1,300 employees and over 100
clients in a strategy to jumpstart its BPO business
in the region, "Comicrom has been completely integrated
into Tata Consultancy Services and the combined team
brings the superior value of combining our IT and BPO
expertise to provide complete solutions to our clients,"
said Gabriel Rozman, president, TCS Iberoamerica.
Transantiago,
operated by the Chilean Ministry of Transportation and
Telecommunications, supports over one million commuters
daily and comprises the subway rail system and buses
in Santiago. Over a period of three years, TCS will
build and manage communications, customer care, operational
support and Information systems for Transantiago by
leading a consortium of four other service providers.
The core IT systems will be built by TCS'' IT division
specialising in intelligent transportation solutions.

The
company will also manage back office processes and develop
a documents management system for a leading Spanish
banking and financial
group, bringing stronger workflow control, productivity
and cost efficiencies to the bank. Over the course of
the next three months, a team based in TCS'' regional
BPO centre in Santiago will commence providing services
for the bank, which has 7,000 employees and over 300
branches in Chile.
