Mumbai:
Toyota is setting up a technical training institute near
Bangalore for imparting knowledge in automobile technology
and training students in the manufacturing sector.
To
be called Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI),
the institute aims to provide an opportunity to acquire
special skills of ''Monozukuri'' (skilled manufacturing),
for those students who have the talent but cannot go for
higher education due to economic reasons, a company statement
said.
"This
institute will not only provide a high standard of education
and training in automotive technology, but also provide
students employment opportunities," Atsushi Toyoshima,
managing director of Toyota Kirloskar Motors, said.
TTTI plans to select about 60 students from Karnataka
for its first batch of starting in August. Eligible candidates
selected for the three-year residential course should
have passed 10th standard.
The
institute will offer courses in automobile assembly, automobile
paint, automobile weld and mechatronics (a combination
of mechanical and industrial electronics).
The
three-year course will consist of theoretical, practical
and physical training and, as part of the course, involve
practical training at the TKM plant, during which students
will be exposed to the application of Toyota Production
System.
The
institute will be a fully residential school and the education
will be
free of cost. Fellowships will also be provided to deserving
students to promote excellence.
Toyota
Kirloskar Motors will encourage potential graduates of
TTTI to join the company as team members.
