Safexpress ties up with Volvo news

Mumbai: Volvo India Private Limited, has received an order for tractor trailers, which are EURO III compliant vehicles, from logistics company Safexpress for its long haul operations.

The agreement was finalised between. Pawan Jain, chairman and managing director, Safexpress Private Limited and Ulf Nordqvist, managing director, Volvo India Private Limited during his visit to Delhi last week.

To start with, Safexpress will introduce 10 such vehicles on high-density routes like Pune — Chennai — Pune and Delhi — Pune — Delhi. The new advanced fleet will enable the benefits of reduced turnaround and transit times and will cut down on transit time from the current average of 48 hours to around 37.6 hours.. The phased rollout will commence in March 2005.

The vehicles being sourced by Safexpress will be custom built keeping in mind Safexpress'' needs and Indian road conditions. In contrast to ordinary vehicles, the fleet is designed to carry three times as much load. The new fleet will enable increased tonnage amounting to almost 50 per cent. The entire exercise will bring up supply chain efficiency for Safexpress'' clients.

With its unique initiatives, Safexpress has created a niche in the express cargo segment, marrying local know-how with the best global practices, technology and perspectives.

Safexpress presently offers 3PL services to apparel, retail, automotive, IT and pharmaceutical sectors, among others.
