Kochi: Projects envisaging a total investment of Rs 200 crore, including an engineering college, a medical college at the cost of Rs 50-crore and a software park, have been proposed to be set up in different parts of Kerala at the Sree Narayana World Convention and Global Meet, which concluded here.

The proposals, identified at the Global Investors Meet, also include a Rs 15-crore textile processing unit at Kannur and a dye-making unit (automobile industry) by investing Rs 25 crore.

World council general secretary B Aravindakshan says the venture presented at the meet will generate employment opportunities to hundreds of unemployed people in the state. "Investors have also shown interest in introducing barges for transportation of goods through canals in the state."

An ayurveda centre will be opened at Kalavoor in Ernakulam and a software park, either in Malabar or in Kochi, is also presented in the meet. The World Council has also decided to fully adopt the project of expansion of the Nangelil Ayurveda College, Kothamangalam.

In the meantime, U P Sasidharan, president of Saradhy (Kuwait), has said that he would invest Rs 20 crore for establishing educational institutions in the state. The UAE delegation announced the establishment of Sree Narayana Global Centre in Thiruvananthapuram. The Rs 500-crore project includes a study centre and facilities for research.
