Auto Expo attracts strong foreign participation news

New Delhi: The 2008 Auto Expo received strong participation from delegates and business representatives from 55 countries all over the world. The Taiwan pavilion had 36 companies from Taiwan as exhibitors whereas the Taiwan Transportation Vehicle Manufacturers Association (TVMA) represented eight companies. 600 automobile, bikes and component manufacturers made the member list of TVMA.

Taiwan manufactures about 300,000 vehicles per year including commercial and passenger vehicles. In its very first participation at the Auto Expo, TVMA was impressed by the magnanimity of the event so much so that it was looking forward to participate again at the tenth Auto Expo in 2010. It received encouraging business enquiries and expects fruitful business exchanges in the days to come. The impressive growth and technological capability of the Indian automotive industry promises great opportunities for collaboration between India and Taiwan, a source from TVMA said.

The Canadian pavilion at hall 7 comprising 16 companies represented the auto component manufacturers, service providers from Canada. The pavilion mainly showcased the component manufacturers represented by Ballard, L&P Automotive Group, Ontario Drive & Gear Limited besides other prominent exhibitors. A Canadian business delegation also visited the Auto Expo 2008 and would also take part in Canada - Auto Sector Seminar on 16 January. They were also scheduled to visit the New Delhi automotive sector hub; site visits to OEMs and leading Indian auto companies apart from matchmaking programme and one-to-one business meetings with potential partners were on their agenda.

A strong automotive industry delegation from Japan led by The Automobile Manufacturers Associations (JAMA) participated at the Auto Expo.
JAMA is a Tokyo-based trade association representing 14 Japanese car, truck, bus and motorcycle manufacturers. JAMA maintains offices in the United States, Europe and Asia.

A delegation of 26 companies of the United Kingdom automotive industry, which accounts for 11 per cent of UK's total exports, was in India to explore business opportunities at the 9th Auto Expo. The automobile industry of UK was keen to forge business partnership with Indian industries, particularly in engineering and precision engineering. United Kingdom is home to over 40 global carmakers, including seven of the world's top 10 companies. Over 80 German companies were participating at the Auto Expo's German pavilion. Over 70 companies from Germany, which was the largest ever presentation from Germany at the Auto Expo, was the highlight of the international presence in the event.

Among the gamut of international participation, there were a host of  business delegations being led and represented by various organisations like Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA); Society of Vehicle Manufacturers & Traders (SMMT), UK; UK Trade Investment Board; PSA Peugeot Citroen (Outsourcing) - Europe; Forum Indien - Germany; Centro Estero per L'Internazionalizzazione s.c.p.a. - Italy etc., either as exhibitors or as visitors.
