New Delhi: The Audi A8, soon to be launched in India, has won the coveted Auto Trophy award in the luxury class at the Cologne-based auto journal, Auto Zeitung's Auto Trophy awards. The A8 picked up 28.2 per cent of votes in the luxury class, almost twice as many as the runner-up. The rest of the high-quality field of competitors finished some considerable way behind. This was the A8's second win after 2003. An even higher percentage of the vote went to the new Audi A6 in the executive class: 34.7 per cent of all participants chose this new executive saloon as their favourite in this category, putting it almost 13 percentage points ahead of the runner-up. The Audi A4, the winner in the mid size class category, collected 23.2 per cent of readers' votes. This put it, clearly ahead of both its premium competitors from Germany. With the triple success of Audi models A4, A6 and A8 the Audi brand has won the coveted Auto Trophy award 25 times in the 17-year history of these awards. Audi is an international developer and manufacturer of high-quality cars. Journalists at Auto Zeitung, which is published in Cologne, counted more than 84,000 votes, polled from among its own readers as well as those of the magazine, TV Movie, which is also published by Heinrich Bauer Verlag, voted these.
