Linux
Asia will be held in New Delhi on 11-13 February 2004.
The event will highlight the significance of Linux and
open source software in enterprise, e-governance, education
and society. People of national and international repute
will speak at the event.
"Open
Source Software is fast gaining ground in India. Linux
Asia will lead to exchange of industry knowledge and
facilitate faster adoption of Linux in the enterprise,
e-governance, and other vital applications. It will
also demonstrate the power of Linux and open source
software for entrepreneurs and venture capitalists,"
says Vinnie Mehta, executive director, MAIT.
Says

association highlights the significance of Linux and
open source in the Indian scenario. Linux Asia will
play a path-breaking role in making Linux and Open Source
Software more popular in common applications. It will
give a platform for sharing domestic and international

Linux
Asia will have conferences on enterprise, social applications,
e-governance, entrepreneurship and technology. It will
feature The Hub, a network of 80-100 Linux systems,
and an international exhibition. There also will be
demonstrations of LiFY, the Indian versions of Linux
made for education, multilingual, office, administrative
and other uses.
Set
up in 1982 for purpose of scientific, educational and
IT industry promotion, MAIT has emerged as an effective,
influential and dynamic organization. Representing hardware,
designs, research and development, training and the
associated service sectors of the Indian IT industry,
MAIT's charter is to develop a global
competitive Indian IT industry, promote the usage of
IT in India, strengthen the role of IT in national economic
development and promote business through international
alliances.
