based Dragon systems announced the latest version of the
Dragon NaturallySpeaking range of speech recognition products.
This product makes Internet usage possible with the use
of voice commands.
Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 4 enables the user to
browse the net using voice commands. The user can activate
Microsoft's Internet explorer, jump to links, use email
packages, participate in online chats, surf bookmarked
sites, enter text in fields and activate all browser based
commands using voice commands. Significantly this software
needs an initial familiarisation training of only three
to five minutes on machines with a 300 MHz processor and
64 MB RAM. It also has a larger vocabulary and has been
designed to support the Indian English accent and vocabulary
with regional names and locations. This software has been
developed with assistance from HCL.
This product is marketed and supported by HCL's Frontline
division. It is targeted at users who generate large amount
of text and cannot or dislike typing. Users can speak
naturally at speeds upto 160 words per minute, into the
microphone provided with the product. The words appear
on the screen immediately and the preferred version has
a playback feature to play back the recorded text.
