Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the largest passenger car manufacturer in the country, reported total sales of 1,12,554 vehicles in November 2010. The company had sold 87,807 vehicles in November 2009.
The company sold 1,02,503 units in the domestic market in November 2010, crossing the one lakh unit mark in the domestic market for the second consecutive month.
Maruti Suzuki also received the `Significant Achievement in Sustainability Award' instituted by CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development. The award recognises the company's achievements in the sustainability parameters - social, economic and environmental.
In November 2010, the company's sales in A2 segment grew 32.2 per cent year-on-year while sales in the A3 segment grew 27.2 per cent. Sales growth in the C segment was 76.5 per cent over November 2009.
In the A1 segment sales of the primary model M800 declined 19.7 per cent to 2,440 in November this year from 3,040 in November 2009. The company is in the process of phasing out the model
In the A2 segment, sales of the Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, Swift, A-Star, Ritz reported a 32.2 per cent year-on-year rise in November sales to 74,063 units from 56,005 units in October 2009. The company sold 5,21,031 units in April-November 2010 against 4,07,271 units in April-November 2009, a 27.9 per cent increase year-on-year.
