Satyam Computers launched a web based year 2000 (Y2K) solution, Dr. Millenium, for the Y2K problem in computers. It offers facilities for auditing and fixing Y2K related problems in BIOS (the microprocessor/chip level), operating system, commercial off-the shelf software and other files on a computer.

Dr. Millenium has made access to Y2K solutions easy and cost effective for institutions, SOHO, corporate, and individual users. It will also help the users to audit all aspects of their IT infrastructure. Dr.Millennium brings together a unique combination of on-line diagnostic tools and structured operational methods.

Dr. Millennium is the first major net based Y2K solution and is available as a web version for the SOHO market and network version for the corporate market. The web version is priced at Rs. 499 per user and is downloadable from their site. The network version takes care of the entire corporate network including servers, PCs, network components, peripherals, communication devices and embedded software. This version is priced at Rs. 400 per user terminal, with volume discounts. Eventually these services will be priced on a subscription basis.

While addressing the press conference Srini Raju, Executive Director, Satyam said "we have incorporated web related technology to several of our products and services, as the internet is gaining world-wide popularity, and is a quick and cost-effective delivery system". Satyam had about 40 highly experienced engineers working as a team at its state of the art Satyam Technology Centre, Hyderabad. The company plans to launch anti-virus and other web related software this year.
