Toyota's domestic production rises for first time in 11 months news

Asia's biggest automaker Toyota Motor reported the first increase in monthly domestic production in Japan after the twin disaster of  March, as a near-complete recovery in its parts supply chain helped boost output.

Toyota's worldwide output rose 10.6 per cent to 626,817 vehicles in August, marking the first rise in the past 11 months, the company said in a statement today.

Domestic production rose 12 per cent to 252,374, while overseas production rose 9.8 per cent to 374,443, it said.

Sales of Toyota's Lexus increased 67.2 per cent totaling 3,977 units, while mini vehicle sales increased 1.7 per cent.

Toyota saw its market share increasing 47.3 per cent, excluding mini vehicles - the first increase in ten months.

Toyota's export production increased in South Africa, Australia, Asia and Europe, the first increase in six months.
